By Richard J. · written from ValenciaRecord score 66/100Verified 25 September 2026

How Kensington Tours scores: 66 out of 100

Kensington Tours scores 66 out of 100: full marks for reviews, strong on pricing, and held back by thin on-the-ground cover and Canadian registration without a US bond. It was not on the Power Rankings, which were set on an older rubric; the rankings will be recalculated from these records.

How the score works (100 points). Planning depth 25: named specialists with stated first-hand experience of the regions they sell, leaders' destination experience, countries covered, sample itineraries day by day with named hotels, and years trading · On-the-ground cover 20: a published 24-hour number, presence inside the destinations, and the company's own guides or hosts on the trip · Pricing transparency 20: priced sample trips, inclusions, currency and season, and published booking terms · Review evidence 20: the best independent review platform by score and volume, a second platform, and a review in the last six months · Financial protection 15: numbered ATOL, ABTA or ABTOT cover in the UK, USTOA in the US, provincial registration in Canada. Kensington publishes the parts of a private tour that sell it: the hotels night by night, the price per person and a large review base. It publishes little about what happens once the traveller is on the ground: no 24-hour line, no office abroad, and guides who belong to local partners.

Who owns Kensington Tours?

Kensington Tours is held within Navigatr Group, the private investment company its founder Jeff Willner started in 2005 as KT Holdings and renamed in 2018, which also owns Ensemble Travel Group, Travel Edge Network and TripArc.

Travel Weekly describes Navigatr as a private investment company; no outside private equity owner was found, and the shareholding is not published. Helen Giontsis, who joined in 2018, has been president since 2021. In October 2024 she reorganised the executive team and launched Kensington Villas, Cruise, Air and Private Jet; of the senior names announced then, only hers still appears on the about page; Tara Powadiuk, who has joined the senior team since, now leads marketing.

How much does a Kensington Tours trip cost?

Kensington Tours trips read for this record cost from USD 2,016 per person for eight days in India to USD 21,846 for 11 days across Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda, per person sharing. Prices were read on 25 September 2026, on Kensington's own pages and its Travelstride listing, and are starting prices per person.

The Canada trip shows the level of detail on Kensington's own pages: nights at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto, the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, the Fairmont Banff Springs and the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, VIA Rail and Rocky Mountaineer sectors, private transfers and local guides, all "USD per person, double occupancy". No season or travel dates sit beside the price. The East Africa trip names House of Waine, Encounter Mara, Serengeti Bushtops and Wilderness Sabyinyo, and includes gorilla permits. The first version of this page listed eight Africa prices from USD 7,036 to USD 21,846.

Kensington Tours booking terms and financial protection

Kensington Tours is registered with Ontario's Travel Industry Council as TICO 50022233, and on 14 September 2026 its terms asked for 30% at booking with the balance 90 days before departure.

When you cancelWhat you pay, as read on 14 September 2026
90 days or more before departureFull refund less USD 350 per person

On 25 September the terms page displayed only its footer to our reader, so the scale above is the 14 September reading. The same terms required USD 200,000 of medical and evacuation insurance and described Kensington as acting as agent for its suppliers. The footer prints TICO 50022233, California seller of travel 2141973-70 and Florida ST44278. Kensington does not appear in USTOA's member directory, so US buyers have seller-of-travel registration but not the USTOA bond.

Support on the ground

Kensington Tours prints no 24-hour number: the only line on its contact and about pages is its sales number, 1 888 903 2001.

Trips run on local private guides, private drivers and partner ground companies; the first version of this page recorded no Kensington office in Africa and the use of partner destination management companies. Kensington's regional heads, for Europe West, Europe East, Italy, Africa and the Middle East, Asia Pacific and the Americas, are listed on its about page; no office outside Toronto is named.

What Kensington Tours reviews say

Kensington Tours holds 4.8 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 2,724 reviews, on a profile claimed in May 2015, and 4.8 on Travelstride from 2,550.

The newest Trustpilot review read was dated 16 September 2026. Tripadvisor is lower, at 3.6 from 36 reviews, the newest dated 11 July 2026, and the Better Business Bureau rates it A+ without accreditation. How review volumes like these are built is covered in who reviews the reviewers.

Kensington Tours for safari

On this site's safari rubric Kensington Tours scored 71/100 in September 2026, eighth of 18 safari planners, as a technology-led operator that connects clients to destination management companies.

Its Africa prices run from USD 7,036 for four days on the Mozambique coast to USD 21,846 for 11 days with gorilla trekking in Rwanda. The safari planner index has the full comparison, and the gorilla trekking index covers the permit that the East Africa trip includes.

Who Kensington Tours suits, and who it does not

Kensington Tours suits North American travellers who want a private guided trip with the hotels named and a price per person before they call, from about USD 2,000 for a week.

It suits less well a UK buyer, who gets no ATOL or ABTA cover, or a US buyer who wants a USTOA bond; and anyone who wants a named planner or a 24-hour number printed before they pay. For Canadian registration with its own guides on the trip, Butterfield & Robinson is the nearest comparison.

Booking Kensington Tours: the decisions that come next

A Kensington price covers the ground arrangements, so the traveller still chooses how to pay, which flights to take, which hotels to add and what to claim if a flight fails.
