Commercial disclosure: how Uncompromised Travel makes money

Uncompromised Travel earns money in two ways: a commission when a reader books through an affiliate link, and labelled partner placements sold to companies for twelve months. Neither buys a rank, a score or a verdict. This page names every affiliate programme and every paid partner, says what a placement is and where it appears, and explains how to raise a concern.

Every entry is assessed against the same published criteria. Partners are labelled. The order is never for sale.

1 · Affiliate links

An affiliate link is a tracked link. If you click it and book, the company pays the site a commission; the price to you is the same, and nothing on the site is hidden behind a click. The disclosure at the foot of each page names the affiliate links on that page, and in the page code they are tagged as sponsored, so search engines treat them as paid. You can always look the company up and book direct for the same price.

The site works with seven affiliate programmes, as of 29 September 2026:

ProgrammeWhat it is forWhere it appears
GetYourGuideTours, tickets and activitiesDestination, index and activity pages
KlookTours, tickets and activities, strongest in AsiaDestination, index and activity pages
Booking.comHotels and other places to stayPages where you are choosing where to stay
AirHelpClaims for delayed, cancelled and overbooked flightsFlight-compensation pages and pages where flights are involved
Safari.comSafari trips, and an enquiry form that sends your dates to a Safari.com specialistSafari pages
BookAllSafarisPriced safari tours from many operators, side by sideSafari pages
Go2AfricaTailor-made safarisSafari and Africa pages

Some older pages still carry links to programmes the site no longer uses; none of those programmes has paid the site, and the links are removed as each page is refreshed. Card issuers and hotel programmes are added to this list only when a programme is approved and its link is live; until then a card or hotel is written about without a paid link. There is no private aviation affiliate at present, so charter pages carry no commission link.

2 · Paid partners

A company can buy a labelled partnership for twelve months. As of 29 September 2026 the site has two paid partners. Wherever a partner's placement appears it is marked Partner, and partner links are tagged as sponsored in the page code, as affiliate links are.

PartnerSinceWhere its labelled placements appear
Extraordinary Journeys, a safari planner based in Washington, D.C.September 2026Live from 28 September 2026: a Partner row on the Luxury Tour Operator Power Rankings and a partner line on the homepage. To follow, each labelled where it appears: a Partner module on the Luxury Safari Operator Index and on two destination guides, and six articles marked as partnerships. Its review is kept up to date with facts it supplies, checked like any other company's and scored on the same six criteria.
Nomad eSIM, from LotusFlare Inc.September 2026Eleven eSIM guides and comparisons, including the eSIM comparison: a Partner module on each, a featured row in the comparison tables, and two articles marked "In partnership with Nomad eSIM".

If the site is ever paid for research or a licence by a company or tourism board it writes about, that client will be named here too.

3 · What a partnership buys, and what it does not

What it buys: a labelled place on the pages people and AI assistants consult for its category, with the company's own description and link; where agreed, a line on the homepage and articles written by this site on subjects agreed with the partner, each marked as a partnership at the top; and reports on where the company appears in AI answers for its category. A partner can also be included in an index it would not otherwise have appeared in, assessed against the same published criteria as every other entry and carrying the Partner label in its row.

What it does not buy: a rank, a score, a verdict, a softer review, or the removal of a competitor. The order of every index is set by the score, and the case against a company is printed beside the case for it, whether that company pays or not. A partner's own module sits beside the ranked list, never inside it; where a partner is also scored, its row carries the Partner label and the same criteria as every other row. Pages that carry a partner's placement carry no affiliate link to a direct competitor of that partner. What a partnership includes is set out on For brands; prices are sent on request.

4 · How rankings are produced

Every ranking and index publishes its criteria and weights beside the table, states a verification date and links its sources. Scores are the site's own; the inputs, such as published fees, official rankings, company pages and fare tables, are linked so a reader can check them. Companies that pay commission or buy a placement are scored on the same criteria as companies that do not, and several of the highest-scoring companies on the site pay nothing. Rankings are refreshed at least quarterly and the date on the page is real. Method detail is on how we work.

5 · Proofs, corrections and hosted trips

Reviews, indexes and rankings are published without any company seeing them first, with one exception. Where a partnership agreement includes it, the partner sees the pages that carry its placement before they go live and approves them in writing. That approval covers facts and the partner's own placement; it does not extend to scores, ranks or verdicts, which follow the published criteria. When a partner's corrected facts change its score, the page says so, with the old score, the new one and the reason.

Any company, partner or not, can send a correction after publication, free. A score moves only when a corrected fact changes it under the published criteria, and the change and its reason are then printed on the page with a date. No company can pay for a score or negotiate one.

If a stay, flight or trip is hosted or discounted by the company concerned, that is stated at the top of the article and the verdict is published regardless.

6 · Reports to partners

Partners receive reports on how often the main AI assistants name them for an agreed set of questions, asked the same way for every client. A report never changes a page's score or its order.

Questions about how the site makes money

Are the rankings on Uncompromised Travel paid for?

No. Every index is scored against criteria published on the page, and a company cannot buy a rank, a score or a verdict. What a company can buy is a labelled partner placement, and a partner can be included in an index, assessed on the same criteria as every other entry and marked Partner in its row. Payment changes the label, never the position.

Which companies pay Uncompromised Travel?

Two paid partners, Extraordinary Journeys, a safari planner, and Nomad eSIM, each labelled Partner wherever its placement appears; and seven affiliate programmes that pay a commission when a reader books: GetYourGuide, Klook, Booking.com, AirHelp, Safari.com, BookAllSafaris and Go2Africa. The disclosure at the foot of each page names the affiliate links on that page.

What is a partner placement?

A labelled place on a category page, such as a safari index or an eSIM comparison, sold to one company for twelve months. It is marked Partner wherever it appears, sits beside the ranked list rather than inside it, and does not change the company's score or its position. Where agreed, it can also include a line on the homepage and articles marked as partnerships.

What is an affiliate link?

A tracked link. If you click it and then book, the company pays Uncompromised Travel a commission. The price you pay is the same either way, and nothing on the site is hidden behind a click. The disclosure at the foot of each page names the affiliate links on that page.

Does a commission or a partnership change what is written about a company?

No. Whether a company appears, and what is said about it, is decided by the same published criteria as everything else on the page. Companies that pay are ranked below companies that do not when the criteria say so, and several of the highest-scoring companies on the site pay nothing.

Do companies see pages before they are published?

Not reviews, indexes or rankings, with one exception: where its agreement includes it, a partner sees the pages that carry its placement before they go live and approves them in writing. That approval covers facts and the partner's own placement, never scores, ranks or verdicts. Any company can send a correction after publication, free, and a score moves only when a corrected fact changes it, with the reason printed on the page.

Are hotel stays or trips hosted or comped?

If a stay, flight or trip is hosted or discounted by the company concerned, that is disclosed at the top of the article concerned and the verdict is published regardless.
