You're entitled to know how the site is put together and the standard every article is held to. Here it is, kept short on purpose.

How topics get chosen

Topics come from real reader questions, from genuine gaps where the existing writing is thin or purely commercial, and from the trips being researched anyway. If an article won't still be useful in a year or two, it's either written with dates attached to every figure or it isn't written at all. The aim is durability, not volume.

How we research

Primary sources first: official rate cards, operator and brand sites, regulatory filings, and direct conversations with the people who run and use these services. Where a primary source isn't available, reputable press and trade publications — never aggregators or rewritten press releases. Prices and regulations are checked again close to publication, because this field dates quickly.

Where a figure can't be verified from a source we can point at, the page says "not published" rather than presenting a guess as a fact.

How rankings are scored

Every index publishes its criteria and their weights beside the table, states the date it was verified, and links what it was built from. The scores are mine. Companies that pay commission or hold a labelled partner placement are assessed on the same criteria as companies that do not, and the order is set by the score — a placement can be bought, a rank cannot. When we get it wrong

We do our best to get every detail right. We're not perfect, and when something turns out to be wrong we fix it in the open — the article's date updates and any material change is noted on the piece itself. Nothing is quietly edited away. If you spot an error, email richard@uncompromised.travel and I'll put it right.

The standard behind every recommendation

• Specific over vague Real prices, real dates, named properties, sourced claims. If something can't be made specific, it's flagged as such or left out.
• Honest even when it costs us If a place is slipping, overpriced for what it is, or simply not the best choice for most readers, the article says so — and points to the better option, even where the site earns nothing from it.
• The friend test Would I send a friend, a sibling, or a parent here, knowing what I know? If not, it doesn't get recommended.

Keeping it current

Every article carries a last-reviewed date, and the aim is to revisit each one at least every 90 days — sooner if a price shifts, a property changes hands, a route changes, or a regulation updates. Travel dates quickly, and "accurate at the time of writing" isn't good enough on its own.
